My name is Queen Israel, and I founded Nonprofit Navigator Africa with one mission: to change the funding story for African nonprofits.
For over a decade, I worked in the nonprofit trenches—as a program officer, gender officer, and case manager—witnessing how brilliant projects collapsed overnight because of lack of funding. I saw teams of passionate staff sent home. I saw programs that could have saved lives put on hold. I saw organizations with so much promise shut down completely.
That pain became my fuel.
I went all out to master the art of grant writing, donor engagement, nonprofit branding, fundraising, and strategy. Over the years, I’ve not only helped organizations raise over $10 million in grants, but I’ve also trained, coached, and mentored nonprofits across Africa to replicate the same success.

My Story: From Struggle to Strategy
Let me take you back.
I remember sitting in an office as a young program officer, watching our NGO’s director announce that half the staff would be let go. The reason? Our major donor pulled out.
The room was silent. Some staff cried. Others stared blankly, wondering how they’d feed their families.
Later, as a gender officer, I watched projects designed to protect vulnerable women and girls get shut down—not because they weren’t working, but because funding stopped.
The worst moment? Seeing an entire nonprofit close its doors, leaving a whole community stranded.
That broke me.
I realized: passion isn’t enough to keep nonprofits alive. Vision isn’t enough. Even impact isn’t enough.
What keeps nonprofits alive is funding strategy.
So I immersed myself in it—grant writing, donor databases, nonprofit branding, storytelling, fundraising models, and global funding trends. I studied what makes one proposal stand out from 200 others. I learned how to package nonprofit work in ways that donors love. I practiced until I could write with clarity, confidence, and credibility.
And it worked.
I went from frustration to results—helping nonprofits secure millions in grants and equipping leaders who’ve gone on to do the same.
